Every company in the group passes through the same three stages, and we try to be honest about which one a business is actually in.
Build, operate, scale is less a slogan than a checklist — a way to make sure we are solving the problem in front of us and not the one we wish we had.
Build
In the build stage the only question is whether the thing works and whether anyone wants it. Speed and focus beat process; everything that isn't the core bet is a distraction.
Operate
Operating is the unglamorous middle where most value is quietly created or destroyed. Margins, reliability and repeatable delivery matter more than any new feature.
Scale
Scaling is only earned once the machine is proven. The failure mode is scaling a business that operates badly — pouring fuel on a process that wasn't ready. Our order of operations exists to prevent exactly that.
- Build: prove the bet with the smallest possible team.
- Operate: make it reliable, measurable and profitable.
- Scale: add fuel only once the unit economics hold.
The verbs are simple. The discipline is refusing to skip one.
